Team Uganda to the 46th World Athletics Cross Country Championships-Tallahassee, Florida, USA
In a ceremonial highlight today, the Team Uganda squad was officially flagged off by National Council of Sports (NCS) General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel together with Uganda Athletics President Dominic Otucet at the NCS headquarters. This formal send-off marks the team’s final preparations and departure preparations ahead of the championships, symbolizing national support and pride as they head to the global stage.
With only 5 days remaining until the global showdown, the Uganda Athletics (UA) is excited to present our complete squad of 26 athletes and 4 officials for the 46th World Athletics Cross Country Championships that will take place on Saturday, 10 January 2026 at Apalachee Regional Park, Tallahassee, Florida, USA

After an intensive month-long residential training camp in Kapchorwa, the team is in peak condition, high spirits, and fully focused on improving upon the five medals (including Jacob Kiplimo’s individual gold) won in Belgrade 2024.
Leading the charge is two-time defending champion Jacob Kiplimo, who is chasing a historic third consecutive senior men’s 10 km title.
The teams selected has the following athletes
Senior Men – 10 km
Jacob Kiplimo, Chelimo Dolphine, Kibet Dan, Kibet Emmanuel, Kiprop Kenneth and Musobo Deogracious
Senior Women – 10 km
Chelangat Sarah, Chelanagat Rebecca, Chemusto Kareen, Chemutai Martha, Cheptoyek Joy, and Cherop Rispa
Under-20 Men – 8 km
Andiema Solomon, Chelogoi Kiprotich Daniel, Cherotich Abraham, Kipyeko Dan and Kwemoi Jeremiah
Under-20 Women – 6 km
Chebet Peace, Chekwemoi Felister, Chekwurui Nancy, Cherop Charity and Yeko Bentalin
Mixed Relay – 4 x 2 km
Chemutai Silas, Comboni Daniel, Chekwemoi Brenda and Chelangat Sylvia.

Special Highlight
Beatrice Ayikoru, General Secretary of the Uganda Athletics Federation, has been appointed by World Athletics as the Technical Delegate — the highest technical position at these championships. She will oversee all competition preparations and ensure full compliance with international standards. Team Uganda is ready to represent the nation with pride, integrity, and determination.
